Real Tennis

A Prestigious New Development

Wellington College is delighted with the progress of its plans to build a new and prestigious Real Tennis Court. The College is providing the land, and through the existing sports facility management, the club infrastructure, to ensure that the court will be built and run in an effective and successful manner.

As part of the College’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and community use of facilities, the court will operate as a fully managed members club, with court time allocated for College players, club members and neighbouring schools.

The new court will be an impressive addition to the spectacular estate of Wellington College, and has been designed to enhance the sports complex which has been developed over the years since 1867 when the College’s rackets court was first built.

Wellington has a proud association with racket sports of all types, and there is tremendous support from the Governing Body and throughout the institution to add to this heritage with the addition of Real Tennis.

The appeal has from the backing of The Tennis and Rackets Association Limited and supports the growth of Real Tennis playing in the UK.

Please take a few minutes to read our Real Tennis Court appeal brochure, which includes a form to make a pledge or a donation.

The official ground-breaking took place on 29th June 2015.  There is still time to add your support:  Please contact the Development office should you require more information, or donate now online.  Building work should be completed next year and the court will open in the summer of 2016.

We are very fortunate to have HRH The Earl of Wessex to attend the ceremony.
